When it comes planning a rowing trip, preparing for a safe journey starts before your boat launches into Tennessee River. You will need to acquire some important safety equipment that everyone should have while rowing:

Floating Devices
Rowing safety within the Tennessee River always starts with floatation devices, especially for any designated coxswains.

Mobile Phone
A pre-charged mobile phone can be kept in waterproof mobile phone casing or an otter box, to keep it safe during a rowing trip.

First Aid Kit
You never know when a first aid kit will be needed, and rowing first aid kits should include items such as burn cream, stingease swaps, eye patches and more.Check out this link here. The kit should be enclosed in a crush proof, water resistant and dirt proof case.

Throw Line
The best type of throw line to get for rowing is one that includes an ergonomic bell shape that is housed within a plastic container. It should have at least a 25-meter capacity carryout.

Sound Warning
A sounding signal for any emergency warnings is also an essential safety device for rowing on the Tennessee River. This device should be able to make a distress call that reaches more than 200 meters away.

There are a lot of people who enjoy taking their boats out onto the Tennessee River each and ever day. These folks are spending time with their families and otherwise just enjoying life. There are times when they like to take long-distance trips and stop in a new place overnight, mainly to see the sights and entertainment offered by these towns. There are several great places to visit by boat in Tennessee and your family is sure to have a blast at each and every one of them. From Nashville to Knoxville, there are a world of things to do in Tennessee.

One of the best places to park your boat for the night is Knoxville. This town has a lot of great places to dine and enough entertainment to keep you and your family busy for days. There are a wealth of museums and historical sites to check out in the great city of Knoxville. No matter what you want to do, Knoxville probably has it.

Another wonderful place to check out is Chattanooga. They also have a lot of fine dining locations and much to offer in the way of art. There is a very prominent community of artists living in Chattanooga waiting to show their art to newcomers. It is a truly wonderful city.

Choosing a good GPS device: Does Price Matter?
GPS devices are among the best selling technology products, and its easy to pay a lot of money for a unit only to be disappointed. Not all GPS units are created equally, and not all are priced according to the value given. Shop carefully for the best price.

Before You Buy
The prices of GPS devices vary widely from around 100 to upwards of 600. Forget any GPS over 150. A very good GPS with all of the necessary user features can be bought for about 130. This model does not come with the automatic map update feature. However, this feature and a few more can be purchased in a model that sells for around 150.

Its important to decide whether the GPS will be used primarily in the car, or whether it will be used for hiking and camping. GPS units will not serve both purposes.

GPS models for serious hikers and campers require a high-sensitivity receiver, detailed base map, a barometric altimeter, and an electronic compass. These models sell for about 250. However, most of these models will not help when the user is in heavy cover or deep canyons.Want to know more? Don’t just sit in the hotel and watch direct TV get out and see what Chat City has to offer!
The Aquarium: Before Atlanta’s opened it was one of the biggest in the world but it still attracts visitors from states away. It’s a great trip for the kids but likely for you as well since you’re already a water fiend.check out the water wall while you’re there!
See Rock City: You likely saw tons of billboards on your way in but Rock City isn’t just a kitscy tourist attraction. It’s got some awesome natural sights and views you won’t believe and it’s totally worth the short drive and medium admission fee.
Ruby Falls: If you like Rock City you’ll LOVE Ruby Falls. Where else in the world can you see a 175-foot underground waterfall? Not many places, and this one’s right outside of Chat! There’s tons of crafts and great mountain food here, too, so get out there.

When planning your next rowing trip, you will need to bring a map and some electronic devices like a GPS. Of course, while you are rowing, you may get very wet. It is important to keep the equipment that you bring with you dry and safe from the water. There are different ways to keep your maps and electronics safe during your rowing trip. One way to keep them safe is to bring storage containers. These containers are easy to find in major retailers. They can be used to store smaller items like a map. The plastic that is used in making the storage containers will repel the water that gets on them, thus keeping the items dry. Some backpacks are made to be water resistant. These backpacks are another good option for keeping your items dry and secure. One of the benefits of using a backpack on these trips is to carry your items while keeping your hands free. Another benefit is the different compartments that are present within the backpack. Having more compartments in a backpack will allow you to sort your items so that they are not mixed with other items that you bring on your trip.

Whether you are going fishing on the rivers of Wisconsin, riding the white waters in Colorado, or going rafting, you need to have a good river guide for your trip. This is not the time to get macho and think that you can handle it all yourself because lives are at stake – Yours!

A good river guide typically knows his area quite well and has been there for years. They aren’t newcomers to the area. Here are a few characteristics of a good river guide:

They are licensed in the state where they reside.
Safety is important in their boat.
If they are fisherman, can they show an excellent success rate?
If they are rafters, how many times have they taken trips down the river?
Do they accommodate for your needs, like life jackets, lunch, drinks.
Affordable rates. They aren’t in it to scam anybody with high rates.
Do they like what they are doing? They should be happy to be a river guide, as it is a coveted position by most 40 hour a week workers. It’s where vacations happen.

Check all their credentials when you select one on your next vacation.More info here: Rafting on the Yellowstone River – Gardiner, MT

If you are planning a little fun on the water and you are wondering what to bring on a rowing day trip, just plan for the basics. First is your life jacket. Never take a water trip of any kind unless you have a life jacket on for basic safety. Next is bottled water for drinking. Do not drink the water from the river. It is much safer to drink bottled water and if you purchase the plastic bottles, they will float if you tip the boat.

You will want to know where you are so bring a water proof map of the area with information about history and landing beaches. Bring binoculars so you can site see along the shore for wild life, flowers and plants and rock formations. Food is an important part of your day trip and you need to plan for easy eating and non perishable meals. Bring a good meat stick you can slice and eat while rowing. For other snack or food choices you can bring a small, floating cooler filled with drinks, salads, cheese, steaks to cook on a small shoreline fire and do not forget the sweet treats of good chocolate and a sweet red wine.
